In 1884, renowned abolitionist Frederick Douglass remarried following the death of his first wife. The then controversial interracial wedding took place at the Washington, DC, home of NAACP cofounder Francis James Grimké. The historic four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom town house still stands today and was recently listed for $1.8 million.

Built in 1875, the home was less than a decade old at the time of Douglass’s wedding in its parlor room. While the home’s brick exterior seems to appear much as it did back then, inside it’s been updated. Backed by a bay-window-framed breakfast nook, the newly redesigned kitchen has granite countertops and bright white cabinetry. Upstairs, you’ll find more built-in cabinetry in the hallway and a couple of the bedrooms, while the primary has four closets making for plenty of storage space.

Compass’s Jennifer Touchette and Meredith Margolis hold the listing.

Naftali Group has revealed that two penthouses at their Arquitectonica-designed JEM Private Residences in Miami have been crafted in collaboration with Fendi Casa. Known as the JEM Sky Villas, the 5,000-plus-square-foot homes are furnished entirely with custom pieces that complement the building’s view of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami.

Throughout the apartments, cream and off-white tones are brought to life with red, orange, and brown accents. The wraparound terrace is accessible from most of the rooms in both units, giving residents an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Both homes include access to the building’s suite of amenities, and one of the two units has its own private hot tub. “With the Fendi Casa team we hand-selected and custom-finished each piece to complement the lifestyle that these residences offer,” Danielle Naftali, executive vice president of marketing, sales, and design for Naftali Group, said in a statement shared with AD PRO. “Every detail has been chosen to create a harmonious blend of high-end design and refined living, giving residents a truly unique and elevated experience in the heart of downtown Miami." For the Los Angeles buyer who dreams of natural-toned interiors and hilltop views, this Los Feliz home might be just the find. Recently redesigned by Rubin Studio, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence features carefully curated finishes throughout.

The open kitchen, living, and dining space is anchored by white oak cabinets; the Quartzite Nero backsplash and countertops provide bold contrast. A bar done in the same materials separates the kitchen and the formal dining room, where balcony access offers an open air dining space. Back inside, green Clé tiles add a burst of color on the living room’s fireplace ledge. The primary bedroom features two closets, each with custom white oak cabinetry. The sumptuous primary ensuite boasts a jade quartzite vanity and a soaking tub. Each additional bathroom features either unique tiling or a statement-piece stone sink.

The residence is located in the Los Feliz Oaks, a charming neighborhood that features structures by Richard Neutra and Frank Lloyd Wright, among other historical designs.

The listing is held by Claire and Sam O’Connor of O’Connor Estates.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne sell their Sierra Towers pad for $4.35 million

Sierra Towers has been beloved by celebrities for decades. The list of current and former owners in the West Hollywood condominium contains some of the biggest names in entertainment since its completion in the ’60s. Patty Duke owned a unit in the building, as did David Geffen, Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry, and Courteney Cox. For nearly 10 years, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne had a spot in the tower, but they’ve officially sold it off for $4.35 million.

The Osbournes bought the 2,300-square-foot unit in 2014 then set about renovating it. The unit features black built-in cabinetry in the living room and bedrooms, a custom walk-in closet in the primary bedroom, and ample balcony space that many of the homes in the building enjoy. As with all units in Sierra Towers, the new owner of the two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom condo will gain access to the building’s pool, gym, and spa as well.

AD PRO Directory firm March & White Design and online Italian design marketplace Artemest have unveiled the Artemest Penthouse, a model residence in The Greenwich. Featuring a cornucopia of pieces from Artemest selected by the MAWD team, the well-appointed space showcases the adaptability of the Rafael Viñoly–designed structure’s units.

“The Artemest penthouse is an extraordinary living space with stunning views, reflecting the elegance and artistry we strive for in every project,” Marco Credendino, founder and CEO of Artemest, tells AD PRO by email. “This partnership not only showcases the synergy between refined design and architectural excellence but also connects Artemest’s network of discerning consumers with developers and brokers, bridging the worlds of high-end design and luxury real estate.”

MAWD wanted to emphasize the unit’s connection to the harbor and the surrounding collection of towers with their design. “The penthouse tells a rather rare story for New York City. The water of New York harbor, the ground below, and the surrounding expanse,” Elliot March, cofounder of MAWD, tells AD PRO. “It’s an acceptance of the city, brought to life as a living gallery of art and design.”

Asking $13.5 million, the penthouse listing is held by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing.

ODA reveals a first look inside 62 Reade Street

In NYC’s Tribeca, architecture and design firm ODA has transformed two landmarked buildings that once served as a clock factory. As the project now nears completion as a collection of six loft-style condominiums, the firm has shared a peek inside the building’s first finished residence, a 3,000-squarefoot unit on the second floor.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom dwelling is defined by its tall ceilings, which are accentuated by ceiling beams, painted the same cream shade as the walls, and contrasting steel beams at the center of the open living space. Hovey Design staged the home, using soft textures in the living room and dining room upholstery to create a cozy atmosphere. Dramatic dark marble selections in the kitchen and bathroom add a hint of moodiness to the otherwise bright space.

“At 62 Reade Street, we immersed ourselves in the building’s past life as a clock workshop and reimagined it as residences, giving the two buildings a second chance and a new purpose,” Eran Chen, founder and executive director of ODA, tells AD PRO by email. “The homes feature high-quality finishes and modern amenities. They also honor the history, full of original details like cast iron columns, exposed wood joists, and brick walls.”

The unit is on the market for $7.5 million with Danny Davis of The Corcoran Group.
